Many Artists Performed @ Malones in Santa Ana!!

Pictured above is Shady Records recording artist Ca$his and I at Malones in Santa Ana Thursday Oct 23, 2008. Ca$his is signed to Shady Records (Eminems label). If you have read my Chronic Cantina blog (under music), you may know that I have seen Ca$his perform once before.

When I had attempted to watch Ca$his perform the first time, I was not able to see much of him. There were too many people on stage and a few of those people were in front of him. One of those people was his homie Kadillac Kaz aka “Billie Dee Million$“. Kaz was there at Malones too and went up on stage when Ca$his was up there. It did not bother me this time though, because Kaz was pretty tight. Also, I saw a lot more of Ca$his this night than the first and he was cool too. Ca$his has a tour coming up called the “Midwest Mayhem” from November 6, 2008 through November 9, 2008. He will be performing in various cities throughout Missouri such as St. Louis, Springfield, and West Plains to name a few.

Ca$his had his DJ there with him … the almighty DJ Arkane. DJ Arkane started the Bogish Boy DJ’s. The Bogish Boy DJ’s is a collective of DJ’s from around the world. DJ Arkane is also a Shadyville DJ (Shady Records DJ). Of course he will be with Ca$his on the “Midwest Mayhem tour”.

Kadillac Kaz doin it and doin it and doin it well.

Ca$his and Kaz were not the only artists that performed this night. Let me break it down for yall and tell you a little bit about these hard working emcees that blew up the spot! This will go in no particular order.

Mayne T.R.I.P., Sonny Kapone, and NextDoor (ND). If you are curious like I am, you might be wondering what T.R.I.P. stands for. Well I called him up and asked him; it stands for “Truly Respecting Intelligent Prophets”.

These three artists are all very good friends. Although they are solo artists, you will find this trio performing together often. I was very pleased to have finally seen these guys take the stage. One of the performances that sticks out in my mind is the duo with Mayne and ND called, “Drinkin and Smokin”. This song can be found on ND’s new album titled “NextDoor; Not Your Average Neighbor” Vol 1. I was able to get a copy of this album this night at Malones. I am feelin majority of the songs from it. Mayne, Sonny, and ND will also be a part of the “Midwest Mayhem” tour. Mayne is working on his next solo project called, “The Mayne Event Vol 2”. As for the other two, I was not able to reach them in time for this blog post, but you can stay tuned to their music Myspace pages. However, I do know that Mayne, Sonny, and ND are working on an album together … the title is yet to be released!

If you are familiar with our blogs here, you will find that we link people’s names to their Myspace pages or web sites. When you see names or words in red you can click it and it will take you there. Not only are these guys talented in what they do, they are so cool and down to earth. They are the ones who invited me out to this show (and Ep whom you will read about soon).

Next I would like to let you readers know about Best Kept Entertainment. This group contains these following members; Kaliber (owner, artist, and music video director), Double A (Producer), Drastik (artist), K.E. (artist), Lincoln (their photographer … who does not have a Myspace page), and DJ Mic. These energetic fellas opened up legitimately for business this passed April (2008), as a sole proprietorship. They have done over 50 shows in Orange County over the course of the last 3 years, as well as produced more than a dozen music videos for some of the county’s hottest artists. In early 2008 Best Kept Entertainment secured a contract with DMX music (the largest distributor in retail music in the US), allowing their music to be exposed to millions of people everyday through retail outlets. Best Kept Entertainment is always looking to network and to bring aboard new talent!

If you are interested you can reach Kaliber @ 714-366-7094. Don’t worry, he said I can post this info. If you network with him let him know you read about him here on our site. I want to let all of you know out there how “COOL” and down to earth Kaliber and K.E. are. I had the pleasure of passing notes back and forth with them on Myspace. I really appreciate it and I appreciate all the info they gave me so that I was able to share this information with all of you out there!

Kaliber spittin fire on the mic Oct 23, 2008 @ Malones.

Note: Kaliber is setting fashion trends with his cast! Lol!

This is K.E. … big ups to him … he’s pointin at our logo! Lol!

Note: Even though K.E. is part of Best Kept Entertainment, he also does solo things. This 1/2 Black 1/2 Japanese lyricist has been writing since he was 13 years old, but started recording in 2007. K.E. was on the Anchor Blue tour with Kaliber. You can find K.E. featured on the hottest track of the month at www.myspace.com/slicemag. Last, but not least … K.E. has his numero uno (that means 1st) album coming out in early 2009 called “The Marshall”. K.E. represents “Tustana” (lol). Tustana is a word he made up. It was derived from the cities Tustin and Santa Ana in Orange County, CA. Represent!!! Speaking of representing if you go to K.E.’s Myspace page right now, he has the last pic u just saw (of him) up as his main pic. Hee hee … yeah I took that at the show! Holla!

Another group that performed goes by the name of Sandlot Swag. This group is made up of a group called The Renegades and artists RuFi-Yo FLoRenTino and Over-Dose. They were tight too. I do not have much more to say about them at this time, because I was not able to interview any of them (nor did I attempt to … but again they were tight). I really wanted to focus more on the others for now, but wanted to at least acknowledge them. Kudos to them and their crowd pleasing performance.

Sandlot Swag gettn down!

The next guy I want to tell you about I was very excited to see. He goes by the name of Epademik. Let me tell you why I was so excited to see Ep take the stage. Once again (about Chronic Cantina), Lainie and I had actually went there to check out our boy El of the Parking Lot Drunks perform, (which we never saw due to club issues). Well it’s a bar and not a club … UH … sorry for rambling.

Tha homie El of Parking Lot Drunks & I @ Malones Oct 23, 2008.
(No that’s not E-40! LMFAO! Inside joke)!!

So like Epademik had a CD that was being passed out at Chronic. I got one of them and listened to it on my way home; it’s been in my CD player ever since! All this time I have been thinking, “Damn … I would love to see him perform”. Finally I did! I loved it!

A lot of people were waiting on Ep to go up and perform, because he has not performed in awhile, so it was a real treat! Ep has an interview on dubcnn.com but to go directly to his interview you can just go here to … www.dubcnn.com/interviews/epademik. Ep is working on a couple of projects right now. One is called “Addicted to the Grind” (original mixed album) and the other is called “WHITE OUT”! The album “White Out” is a project that Ep and rapper Supreme are working on. Supreme took the stage this night and when he did he made me laugh. Not at him of course. His flows were comical and everyone was vibin and enjoying themselves. I know I was. Supreme will also be in the “Midwest Mayhem” tour.

Supreme and his funny self takin charge.

Note: Ep is doing a industry showcase on November 13, 2008 through November 15, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA inside the Wilshire Plaza. This showcase will be done in front of a handful of labels and other industry peeps.

Oh and here is Ep in motion …

I wan to to give a shout out to Strollin Wreckless. They performed too and were tight and I am pretty sure Juice County All Stars went up too. Forgive me yall … but there were quite a few artists in there and I am only human! Lol! There was one of me there that night, but I think I pretty much got a lot of info to share with yall.

I was never a underground hip hop/rap kind of female until now. I am really enjoying it and I have mad respect for these artists that are out here (or there) trying to make their way to the top. There is a lot of undiscovered talent out there, and talent that is slowly coming through. This is why we at Socially It want to expose these kinds of artists to you.

Shot out to NapSac! The owners at NapSac made sure that I got in to the venue with no problems. NapSac sponsors (I think all) of Ca$his’s events. Some one correct me if I am wrong. Check out their store at www.napsacshop.com.
