I decided to do a Myspace interview with MASH, so here it goes and please enjoy!

Anita: When and how did you first start to do music?
MASH: I fell in love with music as a youngster. I realized at an early age that making music was something I was going to do. My mother and father (R.I.P.), used to throw house parties when I was young. My dad would DJ and had all the new muisc. He exposed me to Hip Hop and I then became addicted to the beat and the culture. Every weekend I’d wake up to music playing. As a youngin I would do impromptu shows and would spit rhymes during my school lunch break. It became an ongoing thing that people started to look forward to. The first demo I ever recorded was stolen by one of my friends that wanted a copy and before you know it, my song started popping up all over the place. People would know my song before they met me and had no idea it was me in the recordings.

Anita: How would you define your music?
MASH: I’d define my music as authentic. My first album “AuthentIK … The Prototype” is a street album, which I reflect on things that go on in the metropolis under our radar. Being a resident of Orange County, people stereotype as to what music from OC should sound like.

Anita: What are your musical goals and how much of it have you completed thus far?
MASH: One of my musical goals is to break the stereotype for OC hip hop with my first album. I’m also very musical and I will show that side of me on my next offering. Another goal is to be successful with my music, so I can provide for my family and create opportunities through my music for others. I’m not exactly where I want to be musically at this point, but things are definitely moving in the right direction. I have secured digital distribution for any projects I choose to put out, whether they are my recordings, or another artist who is looking for a break. My first video, “The Life” has been getting great feedback from everyone. I want to give a shout out to the film division of JubeeeCo and EMC Productions. These dudes are amazing!

Anita: Who have you worked with in the rap game?
MASH: I have worked with Emmanuelle Officer who worked with Baby Face, Bobby Brown, and K Ci and Jo Jo. I have also worked with (which these artists I mentioned earlier), E-40, Kafani (Fast Like a Nascar), Kokane (Chronic 2001), Mr. Shadow, Roscoe Umali, Jayo Felony, Bad Azz (DPG), Damani, Tash of the Alchoholiks, Tray Deee, and Crooked I. There are a bunch of other artists too that I have worked with (too many to mention at this point).

Anita: What do you have coming up?
MASH: Coming up I am shooting another video to a song I have. Some of the clubs have been showing good response to a song of mine called “NASTY”. Then as you know I am dropping my album AuthentIK … The Prototype”. I’ve been working on this project for awhile now and perfecting it. I want to show the world that the OC has a lot of talent to offer to the Hip Hop world. Also, you can check me out on My Halo Radio Show at beatloungeradio.com every Thursday from 8-11 p.m. The show is getting better and better each week!

I would like to say thank you to Socially It.com for this interview. If you ever need me just holler. I appreciate your time and support. Also, shout out to Da Anaz and everyone out there that shows me love and support.
