DJ J-Won

Welcome to the first official blog of the Socially It DJ’s/Go Go’s section, where we will be exposing/blogging about DJ’s (and go go dancers). The first DJ up is DJ J-Won!

Before I get into where you can find DJ J-Won and all that … let me tell yall how he got into being a DJ. J-Won got his turntables about two and a half years ago. He actually already knew a little about DJ’ing before this by practicing on a friends turntables, however J-Won did not get good until he purchased his own.

J-Won has been doing gigs for about 2 years now. He’s done hip hop shows, clubs, weddings, house parties, and private parties. Even though house and private parties pay more, J-Won would much rather DJ in a club or a hip hop show. J-Won’s goal as a DJ is to further his name out there and build a fan base. When his name is on fliers, he wants people to know who he is. This is something he is working towards. I have faith in him too. I have heard him DJ … he’s good yall!

DJ J-Won has observed other DJ’s at events who cannot blend 2 records together, nor read a crowd and DJ J-Won assures you he is not that type of DJ. He is also not set to just one type of music, he likes many genres, but his favorite is “real” hip hop. He also likes funk, old break beats, and old songs that have samples that hip hop producers used to make a song. J-Won enjoys playing top 40 a lot, but he mostly does it, because he knows it’s what a lot of people want to hear and what will get them hype. J-Won also likes spinning Baltimore club, classic house, and electro!

Believe it or not J-Won is real shy. Lol! AWE! Lol! He is really cool peoples though and actually, he loosens up from his shyness once he starts to get comfortable. Once a month J-Won and a few other DJ’s put on an event called “The GetUp.” You may recognized that event name from us at Socially It. We attended the one from December on the 13th at the Hollywood Canteen, which by the way is not their usual venue for this event. “The GetUp” was created as like an alternative to the Hollywood scene. Good music, and a relaxed atmosphere. Stay tuned to Socially It (or to DJ-Won’s Myspace) for the next “GetUp.”
