If you have not heard of Grasshopper Wednesdays … let me tell you all about it. Grasshopper Wednesdays is the name of the event and takes place the last Wednesday of every month at the Little Temple Bar in Silver Lake/Los Angeles off of Santa Monica Blvd. Before I tell yall the 411 let me tell u who’s in the pic we have … Socially It’s Lainie and Anita (me), and then the lovely Nikki Falcon throwin up tha deuce!!

So … Socially It was invited out to come check out and review Grasshopper Wednesdays. Rob The Richman, The Good King Badru, and Tommy Blak are the promoters on these nights. Grasshopper Wednesdays is a Hip Hop dance party that also includes other genres of music like Top 40, Indie Hip Hop, Dancehall, Soul, Funk, R&B etc, but still keeps a strong Hip Hop core. This night (August 27, 2008) they had Aceyalone (who also promotes these nights) and Pigeon John who are two legends of the Los Angeles underground Hip Hop scene. Aceyalone and Pigeon John are cross over artists breaking into college radio and more main stream media. Up until this year they were considered only as MC’s, but Grasshopper Wednesday had them spinning as special guest DJ’s.

Right below is a picture of Rob The Richman and I. Thanks to his invite we now know how tight Grasshopper Wednesdays are! It was out first time meeting Rob and our first time to this venue! We loved this place and what they are doing here. The feel of it was so cool with its decor and just the vibe. Let me tell yall … and I mean this 100% … there was not ONE song … not a one … that I thought to myself ugh what are they playing. I mean EVERY song was off tha hook. People were dancing ALL night! We were networking the first part of the night, but as soon as we were done we hit that dance floor. Even if you were not in a dancing mood upon entering, there was no way you would have let with out hittin the dance floor. I was so pleased with the music. I am still in awe today at how perfect the music was this night.

Shux Wun from Music and Strength and 613 Photography was in the house. Lainie did a interview on Music and Strengths video camera they had set up. When they go places they do live feed (video) so if you go to their site you can see what is going on as it is happening. If u happen to miss it, they eventually archive it on their site so u can go back and see it. Unfortunately the video Lainie and I did will not be up due to some technical difficulties, but we will be doing another live feed video with Shux Wun again real soon. Now if any of you out there are skeptical about going out on a Wednesday night … trust me it’s worth it and the bar was filled. This place is like a bar/club. To really know what I mean you have to check it out.
