This is one of the last times we saw Brandon Clarke. This night in the picture was one of his MANY birthday celebrations for 09. This was at Club 24 (previously Casa 24) inside Ivar. I (Anita) actually saw him one time after this when he and Sincere signed me up for Pre-Paid Legal. B Clarke was always on his hustle. Just in case you are wondering (in case you have not seen this pic before), yes that is Poprah from VH1’s “I Want to Work for Diddy!”<\/p>\n

Mr. Brandon Clarke has SOOO many friends it is insane! He also left behind a girlfriend of many years who stuck by his side through all of this. If you do not know B, and are wondering what happened to this young soul I will share his story with you. As I go along I will share pictures!<\/p>\n

Brandon had been having some trouble with his leg. He thought it was an injury from playing basketball, but on July 12, 2005 his Dr. told him he had a malignant tumor in his left knee. The Dr. told him he also found a spot on his lungs. Of course he started doing chemo and taking medication. Brandon felt like life was over. This all happening to him at 23 yeas of age and right before graduation. Friends became upset when he started to call himself dead man walking, but he says that is how he felt. Having a wonderful family and really good friends, they all prayed for him and stayed positive for him too!<\/p>\n

\nOctober 3, 2008!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In October 2005 Brandon changed his name from dead man walking to soul survivor, because on October 14, 2005 the Dr.’s could not find a trace of cancer in his body. After months of chemo and the operation he had October 20, 2005 he was cancer free. Brandon was a level four (or stage four) cancer patient before becoming cancer free.<\/p>\n

April 27, 2009 Brandon was told that the cancer in his right lung finally grew and had taken over 50% of his lung. He was given two months to live. This was about three weeks ago. Brandon Clarke passed away Wednesday May 13, 2009 at 10:45pm. The night seemed a little darker and without as much life as usual. Brandon Clarke was the life of any party! Anytime I got to see B Clarke was so much fun (except at the Jim Jones concert). Ha ha. Only because it was so hectic and everyone was stressed out, but B always knew how to work things out!<\/p>\n

Brandon was very open about what he was going through. All this info and more he blogged about on his Myspace<\/a>!. Over the length of time since B and I met, he has been a very good friend. He even hooked me up through a personal situation once. He’s met my family (husband and son). He has played with my son a couple times (him and Sincere) at Starbucks. I am glad Brandon was able to meet two important people in my life.<\/p>\n

It’s so sad what he had to go through and that he is gone, but for those of you who do not know him, just know that Brandon lived a full life for a young man his age! He was such a vibrant person and quite a business man. He worked in the entertainment industry and has booked so many artists for so many shows. Pretty much everybody knew Brandon Clarke!<\/p>\n

In closing on my behalf. Dear Mr. Brandon Clarke … I am so sad that you are gone. We were close, but I wish we could have been a little closer. Not like lovers (lol), but as friends as we were … as we are, because even though you are gone you will ALWAYS be my friend! All this time I knew you and I never knew what you had gone through until three weeks ago. You kept asking me to read your blogs and I never knew why until I actually did read them. My heart was so heavy and so saddened with disbelief. I think (for me) it may have worked out better this way that all this time I did not know that perhaps one day you would leave us. You will be missed SO much man! Look out for us down here. You are now in a better place and I am happy that you do not have to suffer anymore. I cannot imagine what it must have been like to know at such a young age your life would be over, but to stand so tall and stand so brave with your game face on! Even though you are gone you will always be the soul survivor and your soul will live on through all of your family and friends! You’re the man B! I love you with all my heart! I just wanted to share a little bit about my relationship with this wonderful man. From our first meeting at the Shark Club in Costa Mesa until my last encounter with him at Cohiba in Long Beach, Brandon always treated us with so much respect. It’s hard for women in the game of entertainment to be taken seriously sometimes by the men. Brandon always had so much love for Socially It. Over the time that Anita and I had the pleasure of being friends with Mr. B Clarke we experienced many fun filled nights with him. It was always our pleasure to have him and friends attend a night with us at one of our Hollywood venues. We helped him and his partner Monstah with several events as well, so the whole alliance between us was a wonderful thing.<\/p>\n

Brandon went to church with my good friend Melissa and his sister Rachel is good friends with my other friend Lisa. It’s such a small world, cause neither of these girls know each other and were surprised I knew him as well. Brandon will be missed by so many people. On Sunday May 17th myself and my daughter went to pay our respects at the going home picnic that his friends and family held for him. We didn’t stay too long, but long enough to let his girlfriend and a few other friends know the Socially It cared very much about him. I am just happy that I did get the chance to get to know him and enjoy him in good times. Brandon you will always be with Anita and I. – Lainie<\/p>\n
